150 – World

I like to walk on the beach. It is good for the mind, body, and soul – and refreshing on my feet.

I recently heard the following question: How would you describe the world to a young child? That’s an interesting question and one for me to ponder today.

The world is all the waves, the sand, the wind, and the clouds in the sky. The world is all the water in every sea and ocean, plus the water in every river, lake, pond, creek, stream, and waterfall. The world is all the mountains, hills, and flat land – plus the soil, rocks, and sand on every beach and in all the deserts.

The world is all the animals that live – the dogs and cats with people – the cows, pigs, horses, sheep, and goats on farms – the lions, tigers, giraffes, monkeys, and many more in the wild jungles and grasslands – plus all the fish, dolphins, clams, shrimps, and frogs in the water. Let’s not forget the bugs, ants, and worms in the ground – and all the insects everywhere.

The world is all the plants: the trees, bushes, grasses, flowers, and weeds – plus all the fruits and vegetables we eat.

The world is everything you can see and not see. All the things that you can touch and are unwilling to touch. The world is home to whatever moves and stands still – to what smells good and stinks.

The world is everything you hear – the crashing waves, the wind whistling in your ears, the sounds that birds make, the cars and trucks moving down the road, plus the banging of hammers and loud machines.

The world is everything that you can’t hear, can’t see, can’t touch, can’t taste, and can’t smell. That’s a world that bigger than we expect.

The world is all the people and where they live – plus the food they eat, the clothes they wear, the music they like, and the words they say. The world in the many languages of the world that people speak. The world is also all good things people do such as being nice and helping others, but also many bad things. The world is everything we like, plus the stuff we don’t like.

The world is all the people – everyone, everybody, everywhere. The boys and girls, sons and daughters, moms and dads, aunts, uncles and cousins, grandparents and neighbors, men and women, and people with different names, hair colors, and skin tones. The world is also all the people in the cemetery who aren’t alive anymore – but don’t forget all the babies who will be born in the future – including your kids.

The world is all the activities that people do – all the work, play, run, walk, sit, rest, and sleep. The world is the games we play, the places we go, the people we visit, and all the stuff not only in our house – but in every house. The world is all buildings like the tall ones along the beach – and all the stores, restaurants, schools, offices, and factories.

The world is a planet – the earth, a globe that is spinning in a very big space. Some would say that all those stars we see in the night sky are part of our world – but others say they are in another world. Maybe someone on a star sees our world as a small light in the night sky. The sun is in the sky and plays a big role in life – so is it part of our world? How about the moon?

People can be world-class, worlds apart, a man or woman of the world, lost in the world, be without a care in the world, or have the world by the tail, feet, or string while playing My Heart Bleeds For You on the world’s smallest violin.

We can think about the who, what, when, where, and why in the world while wondering what the world is coming to, or ask, how the world has been treating you? We can see the world and tell it to stop because we want to get off, but it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round and round. In a perfect world, we know each of us can make a world of difference because we know what love, respect, and being nice can do.

Whether in a first, second, or third world, look through the windows of the world to see all corners of the world and the best and worst the world offers. But before we leave this world, it is important to be at peace with the world – but be careful of promising the moon, earth, or the world.

When the weight of the world is on our shoulders, maybe we are not long for the world, dead to the world, or say, “Goodbye cruel world” before the end of the world. However, we can also be on top of the world where we feel good because the world of our dreams is leading us to step into a brave new world of doing a world of good. Then again, blogging has taught me that it is a small world, and niceness and respect go a long way.

Yes, the world is big and with so many things. Maybe the world is even more than people, places, and things. All over the world, people make a world of difference by doing a world of good – but others say this is only in an ideal world or a make-believe world.

We live in a big and wonderful world that is full of good and bad surprises. The world is so big, this walk only covers a small piece of it – but at least I tried. Maybe I’ll try again another time about the world because I like walking on the beach – and it is good for the mind, body, and soul – and refreshing on my feet.
